Ian Tindal

Kayaks & Paddles Team Member

Ian first sat in his cousins Klepper kayak next to Brighton Pier in 1962 age 4. Initially reluctant climb aboard however once dumped into the cockpit, and feeling the water moving beneath him, he stopped yelping and whinging and knew he was where he belonged! He started paddling his own kayak shortly after so has a fair few water miles behind him now!

Brought up in the NE of England a few minutes from Tynemouth beach where he was a lifeguard for many years before moving to Cornwall in the early 80s - the sea has been a huge part of his life be that on surfboards, surf kayaks, waveskis, sea kayaks, swimming, subaqua or sailing.

Keen on multi-day expeditions Ian has paddled much of the UK coastline as well as in Scotland, Norway, France, Spain and Kenya. He likes some gentle play along the rocky coastlines in his Dagger Stratos 14.5L as well as heading offshore in his Necky Looksha 17 or a Norse Bylgja to spend time on open water looking for dolphins and whales and he has a bit of a thing about night paddling too! He regularly does kayak support for charity swim events at sea and on inshore waters.

He can sometimes be seen delivering our products to customers or to the different shops of the Canoe shop Group.
