The Old Town Sportsman Salty PDL is an efficent pedal drive kayak designed for saltwater fishing but would be equally at home on inland lakes or lochs. The pronounced upsweep at the bow enables it to push through choppy waves and ride up and over larger swells while keeping the paddler drier than on many other similar kayaks! The low-maintenance PDL drive system is efficient and comes with instant reverse which is a very handy feature when manouevring. Backed with Old Town's 5-year warranty, you can be sure that the Salty PDL will be reliable and provide the performance you need on your kayak fishing adventures.
The Sportsman Salty PDl is a 12ft build which is ideal for all-round paddling and well suited for fishing on the sea around the UK coastline. You will find the kayak is comfortable when fishing at anchor and the efficient drive is great if you are needing to cover a fair bit of distance along the coast whilst trolling a lure. Likewise if you are on a stealth mission silently edging up gentle river creeks or along the edge of reed beds on a lake the Salty PDl is an ideal choice for you. There is an easy-docking system for hassle-free lifting and lowering of the drive when launching, landing or paddling across super shallow secions of your route.
The adjustable raised seat on the Salty 120 PDL has a quick drying mesh cover and offers excellent lumbar support for long days afloat. The seat is quick and easy to adjust along a track system to accomdate paddlers of a wide range of heights. Below the seat there is a tackle tray storage area so your essentials are close to hand. The installed rudder kit features an uphaul and downhaul lever and there are conveniently located hand controls either side of the seat for easy steering whilst you pedal along. There are two rear facing rod holders and a handy front facing rod holder which is great for tackling, baiting up or unhooking a catch! On each side of the footwell there are accessory tracks for easy addition of track-mounted gear such as fish-finder mounts and extra rod holders.
The rear cargo area of the Old Town Sportsman Salty offers enough space to carry a storage crate and your catch, with further space in the bow recess. A rectangular Click Seal hatch is located underneath the seat for access inside the kayak - this is just big enough to store the popular Railblaza C-Tug trolleys inside including the C-Tug R Sandtrakz, which we recommend for the Salty PDL. A transducer scupper with 'no-drill' transducer mounting block allows for quick and easy fish finder installation.
