Premium Touring Paddle - Lightweight Aircore Blade
The durable and buoyant Aircore Carbon blades provide a clean catch and are smooth during the draw, they are designed for general paddling and touring. You will find the Aircore Skera can provide plenty of power if you need it while being gentle on the body at a good cruising pace during long distance touring. The blade is suitable for low or high angle technique and calm or turbulent water which makes it readily adaptable to a range of conditions and gives you the opportunity of varying stroke angle to reduce fatigue during longer trips.
The buoyancy of Aircore blades makes them great for rolling, it is also surprisingly effective during strong bracing strokes. They are lighter weight and tougher than foam core blades too! You will notice the carbon blades provides a precise feel in the water and are not usually prone to flutter during the stroke. The multi-step layered blade design makes the blade 60% thinner at the tips so providing a lower swing weight which helps reduce fatigue over distance.
The KajakSport corrosion proof ferrule has an easy to use clamp system that can be released in seconds to adjust the length and/or feather on the hoof if needed. The length adjustment makes a significant difference to paddle performance and you might find that there is an optimal length within the range that suits you perfectly for most of your paddling. As a VE paddler I find 216.5 is my go to setting for maybe 70% of my paddling- length adjustable means customisable for optimal paddling! I also appreciate the option of a shorter shaft for lively conditions and longer one for lower angle paddling in gentle conditions.
The Skera is a great choice if you like touring in a range of conditions and some rock play and surfing too!
