This easy to handle cruiser paddles very well on flat waters such as lazy rivers, canals and the sea on those glassy water days. It is also more than able to take on complex sea conditions and has plenty of storage space for compact camping kit for multi-day trips away. The two large storage compartments have foam bulkheads and reliable hatch covers, there is also a snack hatch located just in front of the cockpit for keeping those on the water essentials close by. The Hydra 145 is surprisingly efficient for a mid sized kayak; you might find you can paddle further in it that you are expecting!

The hull of the Hydra is fast and stable on the water and the carving chines and well-defined rails provide a very precise feel on edge. The rocker profile allows the boat to handle complex sea conditions and it's great at surfing and rock hopping. Wave Sport CoreTour cockpit outfitting has a robust and supportive comfortable seat with a back strap that can be tensioned using ratchets to get it just right for whatever kind of trip you are heading out on. The hip pads have a handy flip function so you can fold them back over the cockpit coaming to act as padding should you want to do a shoulder carry. 

This is a kayak that will suit those transiting from sit on top paddling to take their first steps into more serious paddling. It is a great kayak to learn advanced paddling strategies and self rescue and rolling too. If you are a novice you will find the Hydra 14.5 is a kayak you can just get in a paddle from day 1 and will stay with you for many years as your skills develop.
