The Nova Craft Pal 16, another Chestnut Canoe classic. The original design was so popular it was renamed to “Pal” to reflect the affection owners felt towards the canoe whilst and after using it. Nova Craft have painstakingly reproduced the original lines to bring you one of the best general purpose traditional canoes ever made. Suited for flat water trips and short outings for sightseeing or fishing, the Nova Craft Pal is stable, and can handle rougher conditions very well including being comfortable in windy conditions too. The Pal is a joy to paddle solo or tandem, and once you've paddled one you will know why owners refer to it as “My Pal”.

This classic model has universal appeal and is one of our most popular general purpose canoes. With a gentle rocker and low free board the Pal will cope with breezy conditions better than most other canoes. Tracking very well in a straight line the Pal 16 is better suited to larger open water bodies or longer journeys rather than twisting narrow rivers. Lightweight enough to portage using the Deluxe sculpted Ash Yoke In our opinion the best standard fit canoe Yokes on the market. This is shaped to spread the weight evenly across your shoulders and has a carved notch to allow for the bone in your neck.

Constructed in TuffStuff, a fabric woven from basalt and Innegra fibers infused with a high impact vinylester resin. This offers an outstanding strength to weight ratio and is tough enough to withstand many years of paddling. Finished with a gel coat the Pal has an outstanding glossy finish. 

This is one of the most iconic tandem open canoes available, made with the best modern construction methods and materials the Pal has an absolute heritage feel on the water. With a 363kg overall capacity there is plenty of scope to pack up for a camping trip and head off for a peaceful weekend or maybe even an extended trip like the Great Glen route.
