Just like the Prospector 16 TuffStuff or SP3 builds this is an ideal canoe for family day trips or weekend camping trips. The Nova Craft Prospector 16 in FibreGlass is at home loaded with kit no matter where it is, on white water, flat rivers, lakes or calm water coastal. The self righting aspects of the shallow hull mean this boat is great to learn single blade paddling skills and to gain experience and build confidence and it has the performance that seasoned experts will cherish. The symmetrical design front to back makes this boat good as a solo or tandem boat and high sides throughout will help to give a drier ride, deflecting the water when cutting through waves and rapids. At 16 foot long this canoe has enough space for 2 people and a fair bit of kit.
The Prospector 16 Fibreglass model sits between the TuffStuff and SP3 builds as far as unloaded weight goes. Like the TuffStuff build it benefits from the sleek outer coating provided by a gel coat outer layer. This provides noticably more glide on calmer waters than the SP3 roto-moulded triple layer polyethylene plastic version. If multi-day camping trips with portage sections, like the Caledonial Canal Challenge, appeal to you then this is a great choice to go for. It is very much at home fully loaded paddling open waters however the high sides and great stability do make it a great river runner too!
