Sea Kayaking in Ireland |
||||
|
Sea kayaking in South West Ireland is like Scotland or Alaska but with fewer bugs and more Guinness. Ireland is as wet as Scotland and Alaska and the paddling equally as good. For experienced paddlers the Sheep's Head, Beara, Kerry and Dingle peninsulas offer stunning paddling. If the weather cuts up rough simply car top your kayak and paddle in the lee of one of the peninsulas. We stay at Inches House on Beara and can thoroughly recommend John and Maree to look after you and give you all the advice and information you require contact then on info@eyeries.com. OS maps numbers 70 78 83 84 85 88 2nd edition cover the whole area. You could see seals, dolphin's, minke whale and sea otters when paddling off Beara. We had three juvenile Sea Otters tear us off a strip 24/11/04 when we decided to fish too close to their den, too close was within 10ft. If you twitch whilst paddling look out for Puffins and Chuffs off Dersey, wading birds further into Bantry Bay and more gannets than you can shake a stick at.Frank Conroy owns and operates Sea Kayaking in West Cork and is able to offer guided tours to your requirements, Franks details are info@seakayakingwestcork.com and his web site is www.seakayakingwestcork.com
