Dagger Kayaks Charleston 14 and 15 Comment

Charleston is another mover and shaker in the Recreational and Touring kayak market. Charleston took us by storm in 2005 and carved out a place for itself on its merits. Charleston being available as a 14 and 15 footer satisfies both smaller and bigger paddler's requirements. Charleston 14 and 15 cannot be described as his and her kayaks because a smaller bloke in the 14 makes a better job of things than he would in a 15. Cracking features like drop down skeg, adjustable backrest, adjustable thigh braces and adjustable footrest all in a stable and predictable hull. Charleston is a lower volume touring kayak and is therefore less susceptible to weather cocking. Dagger XLS plastic is renown for its toughness and longevity. If you buy one there is a simple modification worth undertaking. Extend the short length of cord used to operate the drop down skeg and dispense with the bit of shockcord. You are then able to adjust the amount of skeg deployed and can extend your skills by combining skeg with edging. A jammer cleat is already fitted to facilitate this operation but to date Dagger have been unable to complete the mod. We will remove this comment when the penny finally drops at the factory. The hull is nice and predictable and very reassuring. Charleston does not edge as well as Easky but it feels more stable, their difference is interesting and provides real choice.
