Fun Paddling
Something everyone can do with a Sit On Top Kayak or an Introductory Kayak.
Warm and sheltered safe conditions with possibly some supervision.
Less expensive boats and kit are more than adequate for Fun Paddling.
Kayaks £250 - £400. Paddles £30-50. Buoyancy Aids £35-40
Typical Sit On Tops. Scooter - Nomad - Frenzy.
Typical Kayaks. Dagger Fiesta and Perception Sundance.
Recreational Paddling
Very similar to Fun Paddling but usually for longer periods of time and including spring and autumn.
Paddlers are more prepared to wear warmer clothing and will often use a sprayskirt.
Kayaks £300 - £450. Paddles £30-50. Buoyancy Aids £35-40. Spraydecks £20-30 (£80 for doubles).
Typical Kayaks. Waikiki - Blackwater - Acadia - Kiwi 2 - Kiwi 3.
Day Touring
More demanding than Recreational Paddling where the paddler has an improving skill level.
Paddlers will be comfortable in calm and more challenging conditions and variable weather.
Kayaks £399 - £550. Paddles £40-70. Buoyancy Aids £35-40. Spraydecks £20-50
Typical Kayaks. Maui - Easky 15 - Charleston - Carolina - Horizon - Vista.
Weekending
Very similar to Day Touring where the paddler is looking 15 + mile days and possibly overnighting.
Paddlers will comfortable in calm and more challenging conditions and variable weather.
Kayaks £499 - £750. Paddles £70-130. Buoyancy Aids £55-80. Spraydecks £40-60

Sea Kayaking Sea Kayaking as opposed to simply paddling on the sea is a specialist activity.
True sea kayakers are self sufficient and well skilled in self-rescue, paddle fit and competent.
